David Wells: Clemens Shows 'Disrespect' to the Yankees

Man, does Boomer have one heck of a yapper. I mean, what doesn't Wells have a take on? He has a stance on Barry Bonds, he would head-butt his GM, and he claims to have pitched a perfect game with a hangover. And now, he's saying what Clemens is doing, joining the Yankees mid-season, is a sign of disrespect. And crazy enough, I agree with him.
"I don't think I would ever do it because of the fact I personally think it would disrespect the team and your teammates," Wells said. "You look at the other players. How are they going to respect you? What are they going to think if you're not there pulling for the team?"
...
"That's not the Yankee way," Wells said, shaking his head. "The Yankees have changed."
Clemens had ridiculously special privileges when he was with Houston. I don't know the terms of his deal with the Yankees, but I do know that his Astros teammates said they hardly saw him -- almost as if he wasn't even part of the team. I completely agree with Boomer in this case, and think that Roger should take more heat for all the special treatment he gets from teams. But then again, it's a business, and if Clemens can leverage his talents into a better deal by waiting until mid-season to sign, then more power to him. I just agree with Boomer and think it's disrespectful.
