Is Dale Earnhardt jumping ship to Hendrick Motorsports?

Well, if you believe Winston-Salem Journal, meetings have taken place and Junior is leaning that way.

Nah. It'll never happen. Right?

Why? It makes sense. Hendrick has a phenomenal engine program--and that's about all Junior is lacking. And he does have a good relationship with Rick Hendrick.

I just don't see it happening.

What I am starting to see happening, though, is Junebug leaving the company his dad built. Whether it's over money and percentages or a switch to Ford, it seems like it's becoming much more likely.

And why not? Why shouldn't he just focus on driving for a living and building his own company rather than trying to save DEI? Clearly, Teresa has other ideas about how to "fix" the company.

2008 could be a clean slate.

Hopefully at Richard Childress Racing, where they also know how to put their cars in victory lane --and they have an available car.

Update

Or ... Dale Jr. takes Martin Truex Jr. to JR Motorsports for an insta-two-car Cup team? I like that idea even better!

Dave Moody says the press conference to announce is scheduled for 11AM tomorrow at JRM Headquarters ...

Update 2

Jerry Bonkowski at Yahoo! sports also confirms and adds the obvious ... Budweiser will follow Dale Jr.
