A tremendous interview on HoopsAddict.com last week told us Golden State's Matt Barnes didn't like his old coach Maurice Cheeks. Barnes told HoopsAddict's Eric G. Satterwhite that Cheeks "badly disrespected him" and that his Philadelphia experience was generally terrible.
Barnes must be getting cocky, though: He expressed himself a bit more viscerally to Sports Illustrated's Chris Mannix.
"He's the biggest a--hole in the world," says Barnes [of Cheeks]. "He talked to me like I wasn't a man. Other players saw it and would tell me, 'don't let him talk to you like that.'We don't get many pro basketball players out of Sacramento, so I've obviously followed Barnes' career since Del Campo High '98. He has never been known to be a lax dude, a bad apple, or cocksure egotist. So why in the world would Cheeks have a problem with Matt? The tattoos? The flawed game? The consciousless threes?
Whatever the case, Barnes is having the last laugh. Not only is doing it big in the playoffs, he gets to make Cheeks look like the mook.
(Yes, that now fills our Matt Barnes quota for the century.)
