Bears defensive tackle Tank Johnson was described as a "model inmate" by Cook County Jail officials interviewed by the Chicago Sun-Times, and he's had visitors ranging from Lovie Smith to Rex Grossman to Jesse Jackson. He has had as many as 20 visitors in a single day.But the most interesting news may be the one person who hasn't visited him: his fiancee, Lorri Chavez. I haven't served hard time, but I think if I did, I'd want my fiancee to come and see me at some point, even if conjugal visits weren't allowed.
Johnson is confined to his cell for 23 hours a day, and the one hour he gets out of the cell is usually spent doing pushups or talking on the phone, the Sun-Times reports. Johnson doesn't talk much to other inmates or jail staff.
Johnson will meet with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell next week, and the commissioner is expected to give Johnson a stiff suspension for his repeated violations of the league's personal conduct policy.
