Brett Favre Treats Randy Moss Different Than Javon Walker

Javon Walker must be wondering right now: "Where was this Brett Favre when I was in Green Bay?"

All of a sudden, Favre has turned into the guy who tells the Packers' front office to do whatever it takes to make sure the team has a great receiver on the roster. Favre even told the team he would have been willing to reduce his own salary if it helped to pay for Randy Moss's salary.

But the Packers used to have a great receiver on the roster, Javon Walker, and Favre wasn't pressuring the front office to extend his contract, or offering to take a pay cut himself to keep Walker around. In fact, when Walker said he would hold out because he thought the Packers were low-balling him in his negotiations for a new contract, Favre had this to say:

"What happened to honoring your contract and saying, 'Let's work as a team to see if we can get this done?' Why not go about it that way? Maybe I'm old-school, but I always thought you honor a contract. ... I sure hope the Packers don't give into him,"

Walker ended up getting traded to the Broncos, who met his contract demands. He had a great year in Denver last year, and the 28-year-old Javon Walker is a much better wide receiver than 30-year-old Randy Moss. If Favre would have interceded when Walker wanted a new contract, the Packers wouldn't need Moss right now.
