A couple of weeks back, I shared a clip of Chicago-born actor Jeremy Piven doing a commercial for the Chicago Blackhawks. There was a time when Piven's longtime-friend, actor John Cusack, was a Blackhawks fan too, but that all changed the day that Chicago traded Chris Chelios to the Red Wings -- which means the Chicago faithful have yet another reason to hate Blackhawks owner Bill Wirtz.
I'm mean, can you really blame Wirtz? After all, who could have known that Chelios was going to turn into the NHL's answer to Dick Clark, and still be playing for seven seasons after Chicago dealt him -- with no end in sight. And if Chelios spends just one more season wearing the winged wheel, it will mean he will have played more years in Detroit than he did in Chicago.
BTW -- Chelios logged better than 26 minutes of ice time last night in Anaheim.
That's Cusack, who is apparently big buddies with Chelios, in attendance at Game Three last night in Anaheim. Looks like he's not too happy with that camera phone.
Cusack explains his feelings in this NHL-produced promo:
That's right, that's Cusack's voice you're hearing during those "Quest for the Cup" promos.
