The Golden State Warriors were unceremoniously ushered out of the NBA Playoffs last night. One day later, and their coach Don Nelson isn't sure if he'll be back on the sidelines next year to see if he can help his team push a little further into the postseason.
"It's not a good time for me to make that decision," Nelson said. "I think it was really important that I came here. I'm not so sure it's important that I stay on."
Actually, Don, it is critically important that you stay on. Your care-free system is the main reason your team was able to get into the Playoffs (and pull off the biggest upset in NBA history) in the first place.

What looked to be yet another disappointing season in the Bay Area quickly turned around after Warrior management hoodwinked the Pacers orchestrated a blockbuster trade in mid-January. Once Nelson had the athletes he needed to make his offensive philosophy work, the Warriors became the League's most exciting team, playing an insane brand of basketball that seemingly revolved around the idea of shooting three pointers as soon as someone crossed the halfcourt line. Sure, Nelson may never win a title with these guys (and his game plan), but no other coach can get them as far as he did.
