If you're planning to watch this week's episode of The Sopranos but haven't seen it yet, you might want to skip this post.I like everything I know about new Steelers coach Mike Tomlin. He's fairly young and inexperienced to become a head coach, but he had a great year as defensive coordinator of the Vikings last season, and he seems to have a good feel for the right way to deal with players.
And I really like him after learning this little fact from Peter King of Sports Illustrated:
I was sitting with Tomlin last week and talking about the show. He's a huge Sopranos fan. He thought that the climax of the show was going to center around the unraveling of Christopher Moltisanti. In a way, it did, but not quite in the way Tomlin thought. He figured, as I did, that Christopher the zombie would try to whack Tony in the last show, or something like that.
I tend to think of football coaches as people who are too busy watching game tape and diagramming plays to get caught up in a TV show. That Tomlin is into The Sopranos means that the Steelers hired a coach with good taste.
