First it was the Minnesota Twins, now it's the San Diego Padres who will be accommodating fans with allergies by hosting a nut-free zone at a ballgame. On June 10th when the Padres take on the Seattle Mariners at Petco Park, an upper area of the stadium above third base will be designated as a non-nut zone. So how did it all start?"I called right when Little League started," said Jodi Granieri, co-founder of the Alliance for Nut Allergic Children. "I got somehow to group sales and explained that we have a bunch of kids afraid to go to baseball games because of the prevalence of peanuts at the ballpark, and I asked them if they would be able to accommodate us in a section where peanuts would not be allowed or sold."I could understand fans being scared of the Padres inability to score runs, but being too worried about peanuts to attend a game? Like the players say, it is what it is.
