Freeney Stuns NFL, Actually Attends a Minicamp

Do you remember a time when it wasn't news that NFL players actually wanted to attend offseason minicamps?

That seemed to be the big story at Indianapolis Colts' minicamp this weekend, as Dwight Freeney showed up and told reporters he actually wanted to be there. Apparently, there's some unwritten rule now that players that get slapped with a franchise tag have to grumble and moan and stay away from minicamps until their employers show them the respect of a long-term contract with lots of guaranteed money. Lance Briggs and Asante Samuel are probably blowing up Freeney's cell phone with angry text messages every hour.

Freeney, however, knows he'll attract more flies with honey than vinegar, and really, this is his job. If the job tells him to be in Indianapolis this weekend, that's where he'll be. If you have a problem with that, Freeney will gladly show you his Super Bowl ring. Then, in about three months, he'll show you his gigantic contract.

In the meantime, someone has to show Cato June's replacement where the trainers keep the ibuprofen, right?
