We already know that sports teams can never make too much money from tickets. But how much money can the NFL make for selling Super Bowl tickets? With the league set to announce whether North Texas, Indianapolis or Glendale will host the 2011 Super Bowl, the Dallas Morning News explores:
The North Texas bid offers up a stadium that can seat 95,000. Tickets for the 2007 game cost $600 apiece, doubling in price over the last 10 years. Tickets for the 2011 game project to be in the $900 range.

Glendale is bidding to host the 2011 Super Bowl in a 73,000-seat stadium. The new Indianapolis stadium will seat 63,000 for the Colts and would have to fill every nook and cranny to reach 70,000 for a Super Bowl.

The Cowboys offer at least 22,000 more seats than either venue. Let's see – 95,000 times 900 ... You do the math. You can bet the NFL owners already have.

I did the math, and I came up with $85.5 million. It's incredible to think the league can make that much money off the Super Bowl even before the TV commercials are factored in. And it's more incredible when you realize all the players, combined, only make about $6 million for the game. Life is good for NFL owners.
