Robert Gallery has been a bust for the Oakland Raiders. And there really is no denying that. But this season could be the year that he turns it around. At least that is what Iowa's strength and conditioning coach Chris Doyle believes. Doyle points out that Gallery will be playing for his third head coach this season, but his best football is probably still to come. The Raiders also should receive a boost from new offensive line coach Tom Cable, who previously served as o-line coach for the Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons led the NFL in rushing last season. (But UCLA fans will let you not to let Cable call the plays.) Still, with some continuity, the Raiders could actually start to put together a cohesive unit that will afford some protection for JaMarcus Russell, whenever he gets a chance to start the season. To get that, though, they really need to pick a position for Gallery and let him stick to it. Not only has there been too much turnover at the top of the coaching staff, but Gallery has been shuttled around a lot. So put Gallery at left tackle and let him develop some consistency this year and the Raiders should finally be reward for their No. 2 pick in the 2004 NFL Draft.
