The Fanhouse's look at the day's most intriguing matchups

San Francisco Giants (22-22) vs. Houston Astros (21-23)-10:15PM Est.

When Roy Oswalt and Tim Lincecum last met five days ago, they put on quite a performance. Both pitchers combined to throw 14 innings without giving up a single earned run. Since life just isn't fair, neither factored into the game's final decision. If Roy wants to get a win tonight, he's going to need some help from his offense. In their last two games, the Astros have been outscored 18-1. That's not going to win many ballgames.

Philadelphia Phillies (22-22) vs. Florida Marlins (21-23)-7:05PM Est.

If you haven't had a chance to see Cole Hamels pitch, I strongly suggest you tune into tonight's Phillies game. The young lefty phenom is 6-1 with a 3.30 ERA and isn't likely to disappoint. His mission tonight will be to help the Phillies hold off on becoming the first franchise in any sport to lose 10,000 games. They currently sit at 9,978. A win won't be easy tonight as they face Scott Olsen and Marlins team that's getting fat on a current three-game win streak.

Detroit Tigers (27-16) vs. Los Angeles Angels (27-18)-7:05PM Est.

Two of the American Leagues best teams start a three-game series tonight at Comerica Park. John Lackey is 6-3 with a 2.43 ERA and starts for the Halos tonight. He'll be looking to extend the Angels 5-game win streak. If we're lucky, maybe he'll tell us all about it on his blog afterwards. The Tigers will start Mike Maroth, who has benefitted from a surplus of Tigers offense when he's on the mound. He's 3-0 on the season despite having a rather pedestrian 4.69 ERA.
