Maybe he was so stunned that the Rockies actually won their third game in a row. Or maybe he doesn't know how to adequately censor his inner-thoughts. Or maybe Armando Benitez is just not a good team player. Because that guy threw up a shield after Friday's game, deflecting all the blame for a
5-3 defeat to the Rockies.
"I'm doing my job, I got three groundballs and what happened?" Benitez asked. "We had an opportunity to win the game. How many times we got somebody on base and nobody moved him? Somebody had to pay and the person that paid was me."
Clearly Benitez was not happy about getting charged for two runs and the loss in the ballgame, but come on man, shouldn't you know better than to call out your teammates like that? Aren't locker rooms supposed to be more tight-knit, with the complaints staying within the walls of the sacred domain? And if you're really upset, shouldn't you be calling out your teammates privately, not to the media? Seems like Armando went about venting his frustrations in a poor manner, one that his teammates certainly will not appreciate. Memo to Armando: next time there's a grounder hit up the middle, don't expect anyone to lay out for it.
