In February, the Knicks and Nets had discussed a possible trade, but they couldn't agree on terms before the trade deadline. Vince Carter becomes a free agent on July 1st, and according to the Post's source, the two teams will revisit the issue.
"They will do their due diligence with him," the source said of Carter.Even though Isiah falsely claims that the Knicks are just one "superstar" away from contending for a title, Vince Carter is certainly not the answer. Sure, he'll guarantee a few sellouts early in the season, but in a city that demands toughness and grit from their pro athletes, I can't see him flourishing much less surviving in NYC.
The Knicks would have to work out a sign-and-trade agreement with the Nets. The Knicks, however, are wary of Carter's reported interest in getting a 3-year, $60 million deal - which they consider a long-term investment on a 30-year-old on the downhill portion of his career.
