Jazz Fans Throw Things at Spurs, Officials at the End of Game 4

The fans of the Utah Jazz have a reputation of being among the most passionate in the NBA, but this post-season they seem to be going too far. Near the end of Utah's Game 4 loss to the Spurs, some fans felt the need to show their displeasure by throwing things onto the court in the direction of both the Spurs and the officials. From the Desert Morning News:

It all started with about four minutes remaining in the game following a time-out, when a coin and a soft mini basketball were hurled down on the floor in the direction of Spurs guard Bruce Bowen.
That was just the precursor.
At the end of the game, the amount of debris being thrown was so bad, when ESPN sideline reporter Michelle Tafoya tried interviewing Spurs forward Tim Duncan, coach Gregg Popovich grabbed all of his players and quickly ushered them into the locker room.

In all, after several eyewitness accounts from media members, EnergySolutions Arena security guards and ushers, here's a list of some of the items that were tossed: empty water bottles, coins, wrappers, Carmex, towels and soft mini basketballs.

I know that this loss all but guaranteed that Utah will be ousted by the Spurs, but that's still no excuse for the fans to start chucking things onto the court. And yes, the officiating seemed to favor the Spurs most of the night, but that was to be expected with Steve Javie in the house as the head official. If Jazz fans know their hoops, then they know that Javie historically jobs the home team, and his mere presence in the building means you can expect a fair share of calls to go the other way.

This is the second incident that Jazz fans have been involved in this post-season, and if this trend continues, they will be perceived as being as dirty off the court as the Spurs players are on the court.
