"Fixin' to" is a great southern phrase. Not quite as ubiquitous and efficient as the word "y'all," but nevertheless, "fixin' to" really gives you that sense that something is ready to happen. Well, apparently a number of media folks are picking the Texans as their surprise team for next year. Of course, the last time that happened was after the 2004 season when the Texans finished 7-9, but gave their fans a surprise by only winning two games in 2005.

Check out this FoxSports.com video of Erik Kramer picking the Texans as his sleeper pick in the AFC. He admits that he might be insane but not crazy. Randy Hill also for FoxSports in this article gives two reasons why he believes the Texans are on the rise.

The Houston Chronicle's Richard Justice is optimistic going into the year, but as the Houston Clear Thinker's blog points out, his cheerleading for the team has missed the mark before and often fails to point out some of the short comings of the team. What say you?
