It's becoming more and more apparent that NFL players just can't stay out of trouble. Sadly, there's no real theme or method to this sudden madness. It's not limited to a specific city, state, team or conference -- and that is extremely disturbing. The most recently player to have the cuffs slapped on was Green Bay Packers linebacker Nick Barnett who was arrested early Sunday morning for battery.
The arrest came shortly after 2 a.m. at a club called "Wet" in Appleton, Wisconsin. Although details are still sketchy, Barnett was apparently involved in a bar fight that escalated after he shoved a young woman. Following his arrest, he spent a few hours in the Outagamie County Jail before posting a $500 bail and being released.
The team wasted no time and has already released a statement:
"We are aware of the incident in Appleton involving Nick Barnett. The Packers organization is going to defer further comment until we have had a chance to speak with Nick and gather more facts."Barnett later showed up at Brett Favre's charity softball game but left before the regular game began.
