GOP Leader: Abortion Is A 'Lifestyle Convenience'
Last night, the East Valley Tribune, a metropolitan Phoenix-based newspaper, reported that a "prominent" valley figure was dead, but that the police wouldn't reveal exactly who that prominent figure because that person's two kids -- away at camp -- had yet to be notified. Today, the Chicago Tribune is reporting that person to be Rod Beck.
There seem to be a limited number of details surrounding Beck's death, but he apparently died at home by himself. No foul play is suspected.
Beck pitched for the Giants, Cubs, Red Sox, and Padres, but experienced his best years early in his career. He was an All-Star with the Giants in 1993 and 1994, and in 1998 helped the Cubs clinch a Wild Card berth. He retired in 2004.
