Mike Nifong, the disgraced prosecutor who spent the final year of his legal career attempting to imprison three innocent Duke lacrosse players, has finally, officially, given up his law license.

But The Smoking Gun has a copy of the letter Nifong sent to the North Carolina State Bar when he mailed back his license, and he goes out with a parting shot. Nifong finished his letter by saying that a request from F. Lane Williamson, the chair of the disciplinary panel that disbarred Nifong, was evidence of "the fundamental unfairness with which this entire procedure has been conducted."

So, to recap: Mike Nifong used his job as a prosecutor to spend a year trying to ruin the lives of three innocent people. And in the end, he's upset that he was treated unfairly. I wonder if those three innocent men feel any sympathy for him. I don't.
