Jamere Holland Transferring from Troy

The shoes of USC wide receivers Dwayne Jarrett and Steve Smith may be big ones to fill--but one person who won't be trying them on is Jamere Holland, who apparently is looking for greener pastures than Heritage Hall's training tables.

Troubled by injuries, the USC wide receiver looks to be following in the footsteps of Emmanuel Moody and will be transferring from Troy.

Unlike Moody's tailback position, where nine potential all-Americans remain for Pete Carroll's crew, the wide receiver slot is one where depth mas been an issue in recent years even as it churns out college-level superstars like Mike Williams and Jarrett on a regular basis.

As a Trojan fan, however, I am of the mind that if a player doesn't think he can compete and win the starting slot--and make an impact for the team--then the program is better off giving a scholarship to someone who can. So as they'd say in Amsterdam, "vaarwel Holland."

UPDATE: Officially, it looks like head coach Pete Carroll dismissed Holland from the team after the receiver had contemplated a transfer over the past two weeks.
