Jared Zabransky, third string Texans quarterback and EA Sports NCAA Football coverboy is having his NFL debut tonight in Tampa Bay. He will be playing three quarters and Gary Kubiak says:
"Sage won't play very long. I think you'll see him for a couple of series, a quarter at the most. I want to look at Zabransky and see if he has a future with this team....I put some pressure on him, but that's good. That's the only way you find out about guys like this, giving them an opportunity. He's going against a good defensive team, a (defensive coordinator) Monte Kiffin defense, in a visiting stadium.Check out the above YouTube to see an interview about Zabransky and why the Texans were interested in him.I'm interested to see how he handles himself. Our decision is simple: Do we think he has a chance someday to be a player in this league? And if he does, we have to find a way to keep him on this team."
Kubiak and GM Rick Smith should be making decisions by Friday on who makes the 53 man Texans roster. They are trying to figure out how many receivers, tight ends and running backs they will carry on the squad. On Saturday, Kubiak will announce at practice who the starters will be at contested positions. John McClain reports that Steve McKinney (center), Danny Clark (linebacker), Travis Johnson (defensive tackle) and Matt Turk (punter) will win the starting jobs.
Finally, to properly celebrate Zabransky day, you need to see the YouTube highlights from the Boise State-Oklahoma Fiesta Bowl of last year:

After a game like that, I am guessing it is slightly easier to take the face paint off at the end of the day, and according the video, it also has the nice side effect of removing unsightly nose hairs.
