Nike Commercial Has Reebok Logo

We've talked a lot around here about this season's Nike NFL commercials (see here and here and here), and for the most part I think they're pretty good.

But Pro Football Talk pointed something out this morning that's worth noting: The ad with Shawne Merriman shows him wearing the Reebok logo -- in fact, it's quite prominent on his left shoulder.

I guess Nike wanted the commercial to be authentic, and authentic NFL jerseys all have Reebok logos. But given that another commercial in this series showed a defensive player wearing a No. 4 jersey, authenticity wasn't that important to Nike.

PFT also points out that Nike apparently has no objection to the fact that Merriman was busted last season for using steroids. Nike has previously dropped track and field athletes from their endorsement deals for using steroids, but apparently has different policies regarding football players. There's no doubt, there are different standards for steroids in international sports than for U.S. sports leagues.
