Last week's wildfires in Southern California had a major effect on the San Diego Chargers, forcing them to move practice to Arizona, and forcing many of the players' families to evacuate their homes.
But here's by far the strangest thing that happened: According to Jay Glazer of Fox Sports, Chargers special teams coach Steve Crosby lives near the San Diego Wild Animal Park. The fires damaged some openings in the park, allowing animals to roam free.
And one of those animals, a hippopotamus, wandered over to Crosby's home and took up residence in his swimming pool. His wife kinda freaked out (can't really blame her there; hippos kill more humans in the wild than lions), but she was able to call the authorities, and someone came and tranquilized the great beast and pulled it out.
