Chiefs Place Larry Johnson on IR ... Finally

It took the Kansas City Chiefs nearly two months and eight straight losses to decide, but the team has finally opted to place running back Larry Johnson on injured reserve.

The only real question that remains is why now? What possible reason could Kansas City have had to keep Johnson inactive for eight straight losing weeks rather than place him on IR?

Given all the nonsense and misinformation spread over those two months, it's unrealistic to think the truth will ever come out. Then again, does it really matter? Do Chiefs fans even care at this point?

I suppose if you were to speculate, it would come down to one of two things. Either there was a setback last week that went unannounced/unnoticed, or Herm Edwards decided to avoid scrutiny for overworking Johnson in 2006 by making it appear that there was a possibility for his return.

Note: In addition to Johnson, cornerback Tyron Brackenridge was also placed on injured reserve.
