We noted this weekend that Patriots quarterback Tom Brady won the Associated Press NFL Most Valuable Player award, but that he didn't win unanimously. One of the 50 media voters chose Packers quarterback Brett Favre.

Now that one voter has been identified. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel (via PFT) reports that it was Frank Cooney, founder and publisher of the SportsXchange. As far as I can tell, Cooney (who is also a Pro Football Hall of Fame voter) has not explained his choice publicly, although I would imagine that he believes Favre deserves more credit than Brady because Favre's supporting cast is less talented than Brady's.

Although I could accept an argument like that, I can't help but wonder if Cooney just wanted to be contrarian for the sake of being contrarian. I hope he writes an explanation of his vote. If he does, I'll link to it here.
