Sonics Fan Ejected for Confronting Team Owner Clay Bennett

Things are getting pretty ugly in Seattle. The team is currently riding a Miami Heat-esque 14-game losing streak, and the (somehow) still-passionate fan base is doing everything they can to prevent club owner Clay Bennett from moving the team to Oklahoma City. Including confronting him face to face at the arena, and then getting ejected because of it.

After the exchange during the third quarter, Kidder was approached by two off-duty Seattle police officers and a man Kidder said he recognized from the suite. They told him he needed to show more respect to Bennett, Kidder said. When Kidder belted out "Clay Bennett Sucks!" during a free throw immediately after, Kidder and his girlfriend were escorted from the building.

The fan, Sam Kidder, maintains that he shouldn't have been kicked out, because he never used a profane word, but that's really just a half-truth. He admits to "having a few beers" and being "out of control," so profanity or not, if you're drunk, loud, and talking trash to a team owner in his arena, you're going to get ejected.

Not that there's anything wrong with that. If you're uber-passionate about your team (and you absolutely are if you're pledging $300 for this), I can see losing it a little when given the chance to speak your mind to the person who's trying to take it away from you. Just don't be naive enough to think that the same owner will allow you to stay in the building after you're done.
