Davis is expected to make his next few starts, [team President Derrick] Hall said.Davis didn't pitch particularly well today, giving up back-to-back-to-back jacks and eight earned runs in only two and two thirds innings, but obviously that does not even approach "secondary" in importance to his health.
Hall told Daron Sutton on FSNAZ that surgery is scheduled for April 10.
'We're not sure about the timetable after that,' Hall said. 'We're deeply saddened and concerned for Doug but we're still in the process of collecting facts and applying that to timing.'
The AZ-Central article also points out, according to WebMD, "most patients are cured or live many years with the disease." Hall also stated that Davis was in a "terrific frame of mind". Thoughts and prayers are with Davis and his family and best wishes for a speedy recovery.
