The Sox have been getting knocked around up in Toronto the past couple of days, and they're hoping to get back on track tomorrow and salvage one game of the set. An early-season sweep isn't exactly going to give you the momentum to power through the next series ... right, Tigers fans?

Sorry. That was uncalled for. I'm ashamed.

(Lies).

Anyway! The offense hasn't been giving their pitchers much run support, so it's falling to the pitching to get things done, and it'll be Josh Beckett coming to the mound Sunday to make his season debut and try to get the Sox a win. J-Beck had an ouch-filled spring and wasn't well enough to go to Japan with the rest of the Sox or to start the season with his team -- he's been on the DL since March 19th.

Back in February I pegged Dice-K as the man that was going to be looked upon as one of the most key players on the team, but now that I've had a bit more time to think it over I believe it was the wrong choice. Nay, tis Becks that has the power to make or break this team. If he has a season like he did in 2007, I see absolutely no reason this team can't cruise to the playoffs, but if back spasms and grandma hips keep him from performing and he has a year more akin to 2006, then they could be in trouble. There are so many good teams in the league right now with rosters good enough to make the playoffs that just one slumping player could mean the difference between playing in October or finishing two games back.
