Every day from Monday to Saturday, The Ice Sheet will take a look at the biggest stories in the league that happened on the ice and elsewhere the night before.

There were five games last night, two Game 3s and three Game 4s, and after a week of postseason games, it's probably time to read the tea leaves.

They don't like Ottawa's chances either.

WhoWins.com is a great resource for historical comparisons, so let's take a look at what past results tell us when it comes to all eight series on the go.

Pittsburgh leads Ottawa 3-0
When up 3-0, teams are 147-2 all-time, or 98.7% success

Montreal leads Boston 3-1
When the team with home-ice advantage is up 3-1, they've won 91% of 223 previous series

Detroit leads Nashville 2-1
Home teams are 166-48, 77.6%, all-time when taking a 2-1 lead

Philadelphia leads Washington 2-1
NY Rangers lead New Jersey 2-1
Dallas leads Anaheim 2-1
The visitors are 93-60, 60.8%, when taking a 2-1 lead in the series

San Jose-Calgary tied 2-2
Minnesota-Colorado tied 2-2
The favorites still rule in this situation, with a 119-73 all-time record (62%)

There are still five Game 4s to be played, and that's always a big swing game. Tonight, for instance, Nashville and New Jersey can win and tie the series or lose and fall to 3-1, which is a hole very few teams recover from.
