MLS West Wrap: Dallas Burned
Legal mumbo jumbo prevents us from providing this week's Obligatory Beckham Shot, so instead we provide this clip of Marcelo Gallardo's top-shelf strike of equal quality. Game Capsules after the jump.
Houston Dynamo 2 - Chicago Fire 1
The Dynamo are finally starting to put things together, although it was anyone's match on a cold, rainy Chicago evening. In the spitting rain and windy conditions, Houston managed to lock down Chicago's improving offense while applying just the right amount of pressure on the staunch Fire defense. Dwayne DeRosario and Bobby Boswell hit the scoresheet for the Dynamo while Calen Carr scored the lone Chicago goal.
DC United 1 - CD Chivas USA 3
United is going to find it harder and harder to break out of their current slump if they keep suffering heart breakers like this one. Holding a 1-0 for most of the match, DC proceeded to crumble in the final minutes. Jesse Marsch's 73rd minute equalizer seemed to open the floodgates, as Sacha Kljestan and Jorge Flores scored soon after. The loss is United's third in a row and fifth in their last six matches. Chivas' victory is their first win since April 5th against RSL.
LA Galaxy 5 - FC Dallas 1
4 goals in 14 minutes. That was how LA decided to open up the match at Pizza Hut Park, and the result is sure to have Dallas reeling for some time. Chris Klein started the scoring with an unassisted goal in the 25th minute, followed by Edson Buddle in the 31st. Dulio Davino added to the insult with an own goal in the 34th, and by the time Buddle scored in he 39th, LA was prepared to leave Texas with a much deserved 3 points. Buddle completed his hat trick in 85th with help from both Landon Donovan and David Beckham.
