It was nearly a year ago today that I wrote this post here at FanHouse chronicling the amazing amount of injuries the Oakland Athletics were suffering. It was ridiculous. It felt like everyday I was writing a post titled "Oakland Places [Insert name] on the Disabled List."

Now, here I am nearly a year later, and the Athletics are putting players on the disabled list at a higher rate than they were in 2007.

We're not even two months into the season and Oakland's already had ten players who have had to go on the disabled list! That's ahead of the pace the team set last year, when they placed a record 22 players on the disabled list during the season. Luckily for them, each player only counts once, or else Rich Harden would have the count up to 89 by now.

Seriously, I don't know if there's something in the water at McAfee Coliseum, but the Athletics have to make some changes and soon. They're currently playing well above expectations, but if this injury bug doesn't go away, it's hard to see them staying in contention all season long.

I'm not sure how long Clarence Cockrell (strength and conditioning coach), Stephen Sayles (head trainer), and Walt Horn (assistant trainer) have been working in Oakland, but I think it's about time the Athletics started exploring other options.
