Like His Clothes, Kevin Love Thinks Grizzlies Fit Him Just Fine

During yesterday's media availability, glass-man Kevin Love openly addressed the perception that he's still a bit "soft" physically. Love said he's been working out like a fiend lately and that his clothes are fitting him better. "More girls are looking at me in Westwood," quipped the former UCLA star.

With all apologies to the ladies, however, it sounds as though Love is smitten with the city of Memphis. Love talked about how the team would be a great fit for him, and how he'd be able to step right in and help les young Grizz.

"I talked about 'fit' and that'd be a great fit (in Memphis), just because they traded Pau (Gasol) and I feel like I can step in and contribute right away there. I can step in, rebound, do the intangible stuff, and play the high post, and do a lot of the stuff that Pau did there. I feel like I can pass the ball and play alongside Rudy Gay, Mike Conley, Javaris Crittenton, all those guys."

The Grizzlies would currently have to spend the fifth pick to get Love, which many (yours truly not included) feel would be taking him too high. The recent news that the Grizzlies are interested in making a trade with Charlotte and dropping down to the ninth pick suddenly makes Love in Memphis a strong possibility, however.

Love then went on to talk about who he thinks the T-Wolves will take at No. 3, as well as whether he's unfairly judged as a player because of the color of his skin.

Do you think there's a chance you'll go to to Minnesota at No. 3?

Love: "I'm hearing a lot of OJ (Mayo), maybe Brook Lopez, and I'm hearing a little bit of Jerryd (Bayless) too, but I'm hearing a lot of myself as well just because Kevin McHale's there and I worked out well for them. So we're just going to have to see tomorrow. I've stayed off all of the (draft) sites and I'm just trying to let the chips fall where they may."

Do you think there's a negative perception about your athleticism because of the color of your skin?

Love: "I don't know about that. I think there is a perception of me that I'm this big white dude from Oregon that is unathletic, but I feel like I had pretty good combine results. Also, you know what you're going to get from me stat-wise. If I'm playing enough minutes I'm going to get 10 points and 10 rebounds. I feel like in getting 10 rebounds you can almost stand under the basket and get five, so the way I fight down there and the way I do things, I feel like I can contribute right away."
