Brett Favre told Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy and general manager Ted Thompson this week that he wants to play in the NFL again, ESPN's Chris Mortensen is reporting.

According to the report, Favre and his agent, Bus Cook, had the conference call with McCarthy and Thompson on Tuesday night. Mortensen writes, "sources say that the quarterback stated emphatically that he wanted to play again." Mortensen doesn't say who those sources are, but if there were only four people on the conversation, it shouldn't be too hard to figure out.

Since the flurry of speculation began that Favre was coming back, he has only commented on the record once, when he sent a text message to a reporter in Mississippi saying that the reports were "all rumor" and "there's nothing to it."
