No Tiger Woods, So Sergio Garcia Is the British Open Favorite

We noted before the Masters and the U.S. Open that the betting odds made Tiger Woods the favorite, to a seemingly ridiculous degree -- unless it's Tiger, you just don't see even odds for a favorite in a golf tournament.

So with Tiger now out for the season, the betting odds are wide open, with Sergio Garcia the favorite.

From Bodog:

Sergio Garcia 8/1

Ernie Els 12/1

Phil Mickelson 14/1

Lee Westwood 14/1

Padraig Harrington 16/1

Justin Rose 20/1

Jim Furyk 22/1

Vijay Singh 25/1

Robert Karlsson 25/1

Although I was a little surprised to see that Sergio is the favorite, there's really no one else I can pick whom I'd give a better chance. The American media will talk about this British Open as much for who isn't there as who is there, but of this Tiger-less field, Garcia's not a bad bet.

Note: If you're in the mood to waste 10 bucks, John Daly is at 150-1.
