Maybe Packers Trade Favre to Vikings After Their Monday Night Meeting?

All day long, people have been asking me "do you think Brett Favre will be starting in Green Bay"? Like my guess is better than anyone else's. He may be the Packers starter -- he may be elsewhere.

But here is an option a lot of people aren't discussing: Green Bay trades Brett Favre to the Minnesota Vikings on September 9th. Why would I say that date? Well, it is the day after the Packers-Vikings Monday Night season opener at Lambeau Field.

We know that the only teams that Favre will be playing for this season are the Packers or Vikings. Green Bay doesn't want Favre in Minnesota because it could tip the NFC North scales in the Vikes favor. They really, really don't want him there because they will turn around and see him wearing purple in that prime time opener.

So why wouldn't they wait until after that game to deal him? Sure, they'll meet up again in November in what would be a must-see contest ... but that game will be in the Metrodome and it is late enough in the year that Green Bay feels like Favre is a bit more out of their system.

You think I'm stupid for mentioning this? Well, remember Billy Volek?

Volek was the Tennessee Titans starting quarterback in 2006. The Titans drafted some dude named Vince Young in April and signed free agent Kerry Collins late in the preseason. Collins, it was stated, would compete with Volek for the starting gig ... something that pissed him off.

So the team agreed to deal him to the San Diego Chargers for a late round pick. It didn't happen right away since the Titans and Chargers were scheduled to meet in Week 2 and Tennessee didn't want San Diego to have Volek around to spill out all his knowledge of the Titans offense. So, the two teams waited until after the game to make the deal official ... and Volek was on his way to San Diego.

Volek was part of a nasty situation with the Titans as coach Jeff Fisher said Volek was a liar and couldn't be trusted.

It has happened before, just maybe not to the extent of a Brett Favre. Maybe the Packers keep Favre away from the team during camp as not to reveal any of the "Aaron Rodgers Changes", tell him he will be a Viking, make the deal and post-date it after their MNF game.

It could happen.
