The Indiana Hoosiers will play Gonzaga at the brand spanking new Lucas Oil Field in downtown Indianapolis. It will be part of something called the "Hartford Hall of Classic Basketball" doubleheader on December 6th.
Historically, the Hoosiers are awesome in the state capital. The are a combined 71-14 in the old RCA Dome, old Market Square Arena, really old Hinkle Fieldhouse and Conseco Fieldhouse.
That record may not improve on that day. Indiana is in shambles after Kelvin Sampson left town and Gonzaga will be one of the higher ranked teams in the country next season. Still, Indiana is willing to play it tough with this game, a Maui Invitational with North Carolina, Texas and Notre Dame (their first round opponent), Kentucky and Wake Forest on their non-conference schedule.
Another Indiana school -- Notre Dame -- will host Ohio State in the second game of the doubleheader.
