One thing the NFL does right is these one-day contracts so certain players can retire as a member of a team. I know it means nothing more than good feelings and all of that, but it is a nice gesture.

Larry Allen signed a one-day contract so he could retire a Dallas Cowboy. Allen played for Dallas from 1994-2005 ... when he became a salary cap casulty. He has been playing for the San Francisco 49ers the past two seasons.
Known for his incredible upper body strength, Allen played for the Cowboys from 1994 to 2005 and earned 10 Pro Bowl selections. That tied Mel Renfro for second-most in team history. Bob Lilly holds the club record with 11 Pro Bowl selections.
Allen (who many called "The NFL's Strongest Man") will almost assuredly be a first ballot Hall Of Famer when he becomes eligible. That 2013 class could be one of the best ever ... with Allen, Warren Sapp, Michael Strahan, Brett Favre and Jonathan Ogden.
