Miami Recruits Impressed With 26-3 Loss

I don't think I need to remind you that the times, they are becoming quite different at "The U." A mere five years ago, our boy Willie Williams was mouthing off in the press about how he was impressed with Miami because Larry Coker was ridin' clean on 18s or better in his Escalade (see Big Tymers "How You Luv Dat, Vol. 2" for further reference). These days, apparently all it takes to rope a five-star is getting all grimy against a state rival and losing by 23 points. Then again, I hardly recognized a soul at the VMA's this past Sunday, so that shows how in touch I am with the young youth of the nation.

Indeed, despite not getting much done against a surprisingly stout Florida defense (I mean, you remember last year against Michigan, right?), many took a shine to their "grit" or whatnot, like David Eckstein was under center for the 'Canes. To wit, said Shannon:

"We had more kids calling us last night from 1 to 4 in the morning. [They would say,] 'Coach I'm still coming to Miami. I'm excited about it, Coach. You guys played well.''"

I suppose the tradition, weather and chubby gangstas women aren't enough these days. And I suppose it's all part of Randy Shannon's grand scheme to have a blue-collar, loveable squad, because god knows how the city gets behind a team like that.
