On Saturday night we'll be treated two to big boxing matches, in which lightweight champions are taking on guys who are moving up in weight class from junior lightweight. And in both cases, the champ is a significant underdog.
We already noted that everyone is betting against Ring Magazine lightweight champion Joel Casamayor in his fight with Juan Manuel Marquez. But the other lightweight champion -- WBA, IBF and WBO title holder Nate Campbell -- is also an underdog in his fight against Joan Guzman, an undefeated junior lightweight who's moving up for the first time.
These are the Bodog odds:
Joan Guzman -215
Nate Campbell +175
I think the favorites, Guzman and Marquez, are going to win. But more than anything, I think it's important that the winners of Saturday night's fights fight each other next. With Manny Pacquaio scarfing Big Macs while he gets ready to make a significant jump in weight class to fight Oscar De La Hoya, the Casamayor-Marquez and Guzman-Campbell winners are the clear class of the lightweight division, and a four-man tournament among them would be great for boxing fans.
We'll be live blogging all of Saturday night's boxing here at FanHouse.
