At some point, you have to wonder what Joe Dumars' mind looks like on the inside. Is it a deep cavern filled with treasure? Is it a maze inhabited by strange and dangerous creatures? Or is it some wondrous clock-like machine, constantly tinkering and whirring away?

The reason I ask this is that Dumars is one of the most shrewd players on the NBA executive landscape, and yet everything is held so close to the vest it's hard to figure out what's going on, exactly. Take the latest news, for example.

Dime alerts us to a fascinating tidbit from NBA.com today, detailing how the Pistons intend to play young stud point guard Rodney Stuckey around 30 minutes per game this season. This despite the fact that the team currently has a core of players that is widely considered one of the best and most stable starting rotations in the league. Stuckey played 19 minutes per game last season, and was admittedly dazzling at times and very strong overall in those 19 minutes.

But with Chauncey Billups as a starter who played 32 minutes per game and Rip Hamilton a premier scorer in his prime playing over 33 minutes per game, you have to wonder where Stuckey's 19 minutes will magically come from. Coach Curry says playing alongside Billups isn't a problem, as Stuckey's offensively geared game can mesh well. And I'm sure the Pistons do have such a plan to make the rotation works. But what's interesting to me is that this is yet another indicator of the long awaited roster moves that Joe Dumars was so vocal about in the beggining of the offseason. More drastic change could be coming yet to this stable rotation.
