It's never that surprising to hear that a large portion of America is all about the Dallas Cowboys. After all, they are "America's Team" (for whatever reason) and they seem to consistently provide each generation with a reason to jump on that bandwagon. I'm fairly certain that people my age were in a polarizing love/hate relationship with the Aikman - Emmitt - Irvin 'Boys, and I think that Romo - Barber - Witten inspire the same sort of thing. (Oh yeah, Terrell Owens too.) Or maybe not. Because it looks like, based on the top 10 NFL jersey sales (via Darren Rovell), that everyone just loves them.
1. Brett Favre, New York JetsAh yes. I just remembered why so many people hate them. They're a huge bandwagon! No, seriously -- how else can you possibly explain a tight end being the eighth best selling jersey in America?
2. Tony Romo, Dallas Cowboys
3. Eli Manning, New York Giants
4. Marion Barber, Dallas Cowboys
5. Tom Brady, New England Patriots
6. Adrian Peterson, Minnesota Vikings
7. Peyton Manning, Indianapolis Colts
8. Jason Witten, Dallas Cowboys
9. LaDainian Tomlinson, San Diego Chargers
10. Terrell Owens, Dallas Cowboys
Or, perhaps the fact that Marion Barber is the fourth-best selling jersey, and Adrian Peterson is only sixth. Barber's been great, of course, but in a world where talent and ability to perform without any semblance of a quarterback should matter, there's no way he's better than 'Purple Jesus'.
