The Celtics' Shamrock Foundation put on a Championship Gala Celebration this past Friday, and, in addition to the team cracking jokes and having a grand old time together, they previewed for all in attendance what their 2008 championship rings will look like.

Thanks to the Boston Herald (via Red's Army), there are photos, and I have to say, these are some sweet pieces of hardware.

The rings will be presented to the team on the opening night of the regular season. They have a total of 84 diamonds and 14 carats of white gold each, and cost $30,000 a piece. Wow. Since the event was for charity, they auctioned a championship ring for a lucky (and rich) Celtics fan. The ring went for $15,000.

You can see pictures of the ring after the jump.
