Good to see Plaxico Burress continues to learn from his mistakes. The Giants wideout was suspended for two weeks earlier this year for insubordination, and in the second game back from his forced vacation, Burress was hit with $45,000 in fines for, among other things, bad-mouthing the officials. (To his credit, he did it without dancing, which would've almost certainly put the total bill over the $100K mark.)
And today, FOX Sports' Jay Glazer reports that Burress won't start against the Steelers this afternoon. Such news might lead you to believe that Burress is still suffering from neck and shoulder problems, but that would make too much sense. Nope, Burress will be standing next to head coach Tom Coughlin when the Giants' offense takes the field because, well, he's not very smart.
A report during FOX's pregame show said Burress was being disciplined for missing treatments for a neck injury. The team reportedly considered suspending the receiver.I"m beginning to think Burress doesn't respond to financial sanctions (Epic Car and Truck Rental agrees). Just a thought: instead of lobbying the union to give his client a break, maybe Drew Rosenhaus should have a sit-down with Burress about why acting like a four-year-old isn't a very lucrative long-term business strategy.
It is possible Burress will not be inserted into the game if the Giants play well without the wideout. Burress already missed the Giants' Week 5 game because of a team-mandated suspension.
