The boxer Andrew Golota has been involved in some of the strangest fights in boxing history, but the start of his fight today in China against the American Ray Austin was right up there with the most bizarre:

That was Golota getting knocked down by Austin two seconds into the first round. He managed to make it through the first, but he didn't answer the bell for the second, saying he couldn't go on because of a biceps injury.

Said Austin, "It feels great to redeem myself. I didn't get to show all that I wanted, but I'm happy I won."

Golota is best known for his two fights with Riddick Bowe, both of which ended in disqualification because he repeatedly punched Bowe in the groin. Golota's other famous fights include a first-round knockout loss to Lennox Lewis, a first-round TKO loss to Lamon Brewster and a second-round TKO loss to Mike Tyson that was later turned into a no contest when Tyson failed a drug test.
