The above picture shows the midsection of the boxer Gabe Brown, who fought on the undercard of tonight's Roy Jones Jr.-Joe Calzaghe fight, and that midsection says a lot about why boxing undercards are so dull.

Basically, boxing undercards have become a collection of has-beens, never-weres and fat guys. It's embarrassing to watch the undercard of a great fight like Jones-Calzaghe and see that most of the seats in the arena are empty, and the fans who are there don't care.

I mean no disrespect to Brown, or to any other fat people. I could stand to lose a few pounds myself. But if your undercard is stocked with fighters who don't even care enough to get in shape for their fights, how can you expect the fans to care?

For the record, Brown, who tips the scales at 350 pounds, lost a unanimous decision to the 225-pound Dominick Guinn. The 36-year-old Brown has a career record of 18-9-4, including 0-3-3 in his last six fights.

Below, see another photo of Brown, gasping for air between rounds during his match against Guinn.
