I asked last week whether Oscar De La Hoya would really be bigger than his opponent on December 6, Manny Pacquiao.

Today Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer provided the answer: "It's official: Pacquaio is bigger than De La Hoya," Schaefer said.

According to Schaefer, De La Hoya got all the way down to 145 pounds -- two pounds under the welterweight limit -- at the start of his training camp in Big Bear, California. Pacquiao weighs about 150 right now.

So while De La Hoya will have a height and reach advantage over Pacquiao, he won't necessarily be the bigger, stronger man. And Schaefer said De La Hoya looks good at 145 pounds.

"It's amazing how fast he looks, how strong he looks," Schaefer said.

De La Hoya said he thinks the welterweight fight is a good weight class for both he and Pacquiao.

"I've weighed 145 pounds now for the last three weeks," De La Hoya said. "The weight is no problem. I'm strong. I have to admit that the first couple of days I made the weight, I did feel a little lightheaded, but now that the weeks have passed by I feel strong, fast and very comfortable at welterweight. Maybe I'll go down to 140 after this fight. We'll see."

And as for Pacquiao gaining weight to get up to 147? De La Hoya said, "I think it's going to be the same Manny we've always seen."
