Marinelli Tries to Convince Lions They Will Win

The Detroit Lions are 0-12. I'm sure you knew that.

The worst record of Detroit's remaining opponents is 5-7 (at Green Bay December 28). The Lions are going to be a heavy underdog in each of the four games.

As they prepare to take on the NFC North-leading Vikings Sunday at Ford Field, coach Rod Marinelli is taking time to pray Pat and Kevin Williams get suspended convince his team they aren't going 0-16.
When the Lions assembled for a meeting Monday, coach Rod Marinelli put the team picture on the big screen. His message: They do not want that photo on exhibit at the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio, to represent the NFL's first 0-16 team.

"Nobody wants to be 0-16," running back Aveion Cason said. "Nobody wants to be a part of history, man. You don't want to go to Canton that way."
There is precedent for a Lions victory. In 2001, they started 0-12, then beat the Vikings in their 13th game. You may remember the Johnnie Morton-Jay Leno dustup from that season.

With that in mind, maybe it's Brad Childress who needs to start using odd motivational ploys this week.
