In 2002, Michelle Wie became a name golf fans recognized. She was a simple teenager but she qualified for an LPGA tournament and showed people what true talent was.

Now, six years later, Wie could become a full-time LPGA member as long as she avoids any ridiculous numbers or serious choking.

Saturday, Wie fired a 4-under 68 to put herself at 14-under at LPGA Qualifying School and in second place, well ahead of the top 20 that will gain full exemption next season.

Wie has played four rounds at the final stage and has yet to finish over par, shooting 69-65-72-68 to be in a position to make it on the LPGA the real way.

So much has been said about Michelle it would make one's head spin. "She gets all the breaks." ... "She is always allowed in every tournament." ... "She wants to play with the men."

This kills all of that. Wie decided that as a 19-year-old she will go through the levels, forget about her celebrity status and make the tour, damn the critics. It looks like one more round of solid ball-striking will do that.

Good job, Michelle. Golf fans of all age are excited to see live the future with you
