Ed Werder has had his say plenty this week -- reporting on the alleged turmoil in the Cowboys' house, the whole Terrell Owens-Tony Romo-Jason Witten love triangle. But on Sunday night, after Dallas knocked around the Giants for an important win, T.O. had his turn.
Besides, as T.O. would tell it, everything is hunky-dory. In an interview with NBC after the game, Owens called the team's inner turmoil a fabrication of the media. "I think it was a lack of professionalism on Ed Werder's behalf, just to come up with some of that stuff," Owens said. "Honestly I don't know where none of this stuff came from."Owens reiterated the point that Werder is a dirty, filthy liar during his postgame press conference as well. Of course, in both the presser and NBC interview, Owens palled around with both Romo and Witten. And NBC wasted no time cutting a shot of that trio on the sidelines, laughing and smiling as the Cowboys led late.
For their part, the Cowboys fans did not do a very good job hiding their opinions on the matter -- regardless of what side they support. Some of them really, really think Werder is a hack.
The rest recognize Werder as a guy who's been around for a long time, know that T.O. sabotaged his days in San Francisco and Philadelphia, and believe that all of the recently reported pouting is probably legit. That bunch of Cowboys fans did not hesitate to boo Owens heartily on Sunday night, first prior to the game, and then again when he let a deep ball from Romo slip off his fingertips.
Of course, as John Madden and Al Michaels pointed out during the Sunday night broadcast, winning cures a lot. So, for at least one evening, everything was sunshine and puppy dogs (or the "Good Ship Lollipop", if you prefer Michaels' assessment) for Dallas.
We'll see if Ed Werder's buying that -- or if he's got any response to T.O.'s rants. Please, at least for our viewing pleasure, keep poking at the hornet's nest down there in Dallas.
